Description: This dataset originates from a managed GIS layer of parcel lines that currently housed in Boone County's ArcSDE maintenance database. This parcel dataset depicts features that are currently going through the Boone County Planning Commission's (BCPC) subdivision review process. Platted subdivisions in Boone County must get a series of approvals for each stage of developoment. These stages are: Preliminary Plat, Improvement/Grading Plan, and Final Plat. Subdivision developers that fall under the BCPC's purview are required to submit their digitally-created files to the BCPC for each stage of development. The BCPC uses these digital files to create the parcel lines for this dataset. Importantly - the parcels within this dataset are subject to change and not considered final until the development receives its approval for the Final Plat stage. Furthermore, these parcels must be filed with, and recorded by the County Clerk before being considered a legal land division. The BCPC converts these preliminary plat lines into parcel polygons at that time.The BCPC's data technicians who are charged with maintaining this dataset are not licensed surveyors. The BCPC has a great deal of respect for the surveying community and the vital role that they play in creating accurate land descriptions. The BCPC wants to therefore stress that the features depicted by this dataset is our best effort to reflect accurate parcel boundaries; However, this dataset must not be construed as survey-quality representations of parcel boundaries. Please consult a licensed surveyor if precise accuracy is of paramount importance to your specific use case.
