description:	<DIV STYLE="text-align:Left;"><DIV><DIV><P><SPAN>This dataset originates from a managed GIS layer of parcel areas currently housed in Boone County's GIS maintenance database. This parcel dataset was started in 1993 when the Boone County Planning Commission's (BCPC) GIS program began. At that time, countless hours of deed research had to be performed, which was followed by painstaking digitizing that (mostly) employed coordinate geometry methods (COGO). Beginning in 1999 (and continuing to the present day), the BCPC has had a successful digital submission policy, which currently requires all platted developments and site plans to submit their digitally-created files prior to receiving BCPC approval to proceed with construction/buildout. Thus, most parcels that have been added to the dataset since that time are considered near-survey quality, as the capture method employed is essentially a simple copy/paste or trace operation using the digital files created by a Professionally Licensed Surveyor (PLS). </SPAN></P><P><SPAN>The BCPC's data technicians who are charged with maintaining this dataset are not licensed surveyors. The BCPC has a great deal of respect for the surveying community and the vital role that they play in creating accurate land descriptions. The BCPC wants to therefore stress that the features depicted by this dataset is our best effort to reflect accurate parcel boundaries; However, this dataset must not be construed as survey-quality representations of parcel boundaries. Please consult a licensed surveyor if precise accuracy is of paramount importance to your specific use case.</SPAN></P></DIV></DIV></DIV>
